Evaluation:
During this unit I was asked to carry some
research into existing advertisements to get an idea of how other advertisement
operates. This also allowed me to develop my understanding the codes and
conventions used within an advertisement. After looking and researching I
joined a group to plan, prepare and produce an advertisement for our product
choice. This being "Zeus Sport" Energy Drink.
The use of this
evaluation will outline the benefits, problems and outcomes of this project. I
will also be including some of the feedback gained from the general public if I
were to product a similar product in the future and how I would aim to do
so.
My group worked
effectively during the planning process for the advertisement unit. We as a
group separated different tasks between us to different member of our group. We
also made sure that the way we worked allowed good organisation and we did this
by setting out deadlines for our project in order to get things done but also
allow the project meet its overall deadline. This helped our group as it meant
that we were able to produce good quality work as time had been allocated so
that we are able to not rush aspects within the planning.
In terms of the
benefits that came from the use of the use of planning is that it means that we
are able to set things our in advance, it allowed us to be able to set out a
budget, this is so important for use as it means that we are aware of ways to
manage finance and allowed finance to be sorted out in the different
departments so that we are able to not overspend and lead to financial problems
for our advertisement. In addition to that it means that we as a group became
more flexible in spending as we would know how to spend our money from the
limits set out.
One weakness within
our planning is that we didn't think much about the wide range of problems that
could arise from the production. For example in the diary log their is an issue
of one team member not being in therefore meaning that we had to redraft the
logo and therefore took up time. Also mistakes in the filming meant that we had
to re-film scenes. This could have been prevented by setting up an additional
factor where this aspects are to be taken in account. As a group we did not
face major problems however slight hitches as mentioned earlier on. From what
happened it did not have a great impact as our deadlines set allowed us to find
a method in keeping up as the deadline was made to a tight schedule so when
this took place within our planning it did not affect us just allowed us to
overcome the issue.
For the production of
our advertisement, did not face major difficulties however there were a few
small problems throughout the process. This being that when recording we had to
re-shot some scenes from simple errors in the costumes used and one individual
wearing a different colour top for the shots. This meant re-shooting which put
a strain on the group as it was tedious to re-shoot however it did not affect
our group meeting the overall deadline.
The filming as a
group went well in the terms that everyone pitched in and made it to the
recording sessions. The list of equipment for our pre-production meant that the
production was more organised. Within our recording we insured that we used a
wide range of camera angles to express or establish factors within our
advertisement to allow the interest of individuals to be maintained. We used
long shots to establish the atmosphere and setting of the production, this also
helped create the competitive mood we were aiming for. We also insured that we
included mid-shots to insure that the viewers are able to acknowledge for
example the two drinks that the individuals are drinking. In addition to this
the use of close ups also included within our production to show the emotions
of the characters. For our group to be able to use the different camera angles
is a great advantage to our production as it also means that the use of the
camera angles provide more meaning to the advert we are portraying. This helps
our production in being more realistic, we also insured from our pre production
work when looking at the codes and conventions that we incorporate it within
our production. We did this very well as we insured that as a group we split the roles and divide it so that the recording could go smoothly. We used our
pre production work to help our recording.
Some of the issues
within our production did take place, however we as a group overcame them,
some more than others. However we managed to complete the advertisement. In
terms of the production of our advert as a whole, I would say that it was a
great and that we produced it too a good standard of level.
